SCHOOL
OBJECTIVES
To provide a Christian atmosphere in which children may gain experience in cooperative play so that they may learn consideration for the rights and feelings of others.
To reinforce feelings that the children are valuable persons to themselves, to their parents, to all others and to God.
To provide a program which encourages children to observe the wonders of God’s creation and to value all living things in it.
To provide many opportunities for language development, art, creativity, musical expression and large and small motor development.
PROGRAM STRUCTURE
We offer a program for
3 year-olds and a program for 4-5 year-olds. Each session provides individual
free choice of art, blocks, role-playing dramatics, manipulatives (puzzles,
Legos, etc.), science exploration, and books. Group experiences include music,
finger poems, large muscle activities, drama and stories.
A
nutritional snack is planned daily with occasional varied cooking projects.
Weather permitting, children spend time outdoors.
Children regularly attend chapel in the sanctuary where they worship God through songs, stories, and prayer. (Parents are welcome to sit in during chapel as well as their child's class time.)
Teaching the alphabet and counting is done incidentally through stories, games, finger plays, and other activities. We also work to promote pre-reading skills such as listening, visual discrimination, a sense of right and left, and an interest in books and stories.
Note:
3 year-old program:children must be at least three years of age on or before September 1.
4 & 5 year-old program:children must be at least four on or before September 1.
All children must be fully toilet-trained in order to attend class.
