Dear Friends,
I hope you are doing well and enjoying your preparations for the Christmas season. As many of you know, we did our Christmas Holiday basket distribution yesterday. We served 65 families in our Peace Lutheran community and our local school families. Thank you so much for all of your contributions of games, puzzles and gift cards and for all of your contributions of food and donations to the Food Shelf. You have made a huge difference to so many individuals and families this season. All in all, we distributed over 4,000 pounds of food.
With the large distributions of food in November and December, our Food Shelf looks forward to all of our continuing donations. With the exception of pancake mix, we are working to stock the shelves again. We are asking for spaghetti noodles and sauce, peanut butter and jelly/jams, oatmeal, cold cereal, soups, pastas canned meat. We will detail a more specific list after the holidays.
I want to give a huge thank you to all of our staff and the volunteers who make these distributions possible. Our congregation has a wonderful history of holiday baskets and it’s been a blessing that we were able to keep the tradition going strong during this rather unusual year.
There is an additional concert tomorrow evening, Friday, December 18, which did not make the list. Peace is hosting the Liberty Community Church Holiday Concert. This will be live streamed at 6:00pm on our website.
Next week, I will detail the office schedule for the days after Christmas. There will be no office hours this coming Saturday morning, as staff will be busy working on the upcoming events and worship opportunities. For the time being, we will keep the office open on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. The office will be closed on Thursday, Christmas Eve. I have been able to meet with many of you for face to face appointments; please contact me for a time that works for you and we will make it happen.
