Weekly Announcements from Pastor Valerie Brown-Greenly, Senior Pastor
Dear Friends,
I hope you have been keeping up with the email updates. This coming Sunday, May 23, is Pentecost Sunday. If you are attending worship, you could wear red, as it is the color of the day. Remember, we are no longer using the sign-up-genius, so there is no registering for worship. Come and join us.
For the next while, we will continue to mask in worship. We are not asking people, nor do we want to know, if someone is vaccinated or unvaccinated. We are asking people to continue to care for the neighbor and mask while in the building. Wearing a mask is not a burden, nor will it last forever. As the percentage of fully vaccinated in Minnesota reaches the 70% mark, there will be less need to mask in closed spaces.
We have planned two Coffee Fellowship Sundays on June 13 and June 20. After worship you will be able to stop and get a coffee from our server along with a cookie, and join your friends at the tables in the Fellowship Hall. We will also do this on July 11 and 18. We hope you enjoy this portion of our re-opening this summer. When there is no coffee/fellowship, we are asking that you leave the building following worship and visit outdoors. Thank you so much for your patience and help as we continue our processes.
National Youth Gathering will be held next July 24-28, 2022. It’s time to start meeting and planning for our time together. On July 7, at 6:00pm, we will have our first meeting with students and parents. All current 8th graders through those who will be seniors in high school in the fall of 2021 are welcome to attend. This meeting is only for interested youth and parents. A parent or guardian is expected to attend with their child/children-no drop offs. Pastor Tim and I will be calling this meeting together and begin our fundraising conversations. Please contact me with any questions about the meeting. We look forward to seeing you on July 7! If you cannot attend, please contact me so I can get information to you and write your child’s/children’s names on the list. National Youth Gathering is a life changing experience for your youth. Please consider having your child/children participate.
Thank you for your giving to the Food Shelf, and for your ongoing generous, financial gifting to the mission and ministry of Peace Lutheran. Your donations on all fronts continue to make a huge difference! The Finance Team notes we are managing our budget, but with the slower summer months on the horizon, we will all need to attend to giving trends.
The Peace Community Gardens are going very well! Be sure to go out and take a walk around the property and greet some of our neighbor gardeners. Many thanks to all who are making this season a success!
One last reminder: Please remember there is no in-person worship on Sunday, May 30. The Minneapolis Area Synod has prepared worship for that Sunday which will be uploaded at 10:00am.
The office is closed to all activities on Monday, May 31, Memorial Day.
Have a good week. Take care…be safe…
Pastor Valerie
