Dear Friends,
I hope you are having a nice summer. Here are a few updates for the week. As many of you know, I took a long weekend off, and our bells are now in Custer, South Dakota. They are being polished, refurbished, tuned, and will be returned to us sometime in late summer or early September. Thanks for all of your donations to the project. The bid for the work was much lower than we first believed, and your ‘bell camp’ donations have covered the cost of all the work being done on them in South Dakota.
Thank you for your ongoing financial support to the mission and ministry of Peace Lutheran. Through your additional gifts and giving, we are on target financially, and will continue to work through these summer months so that by September we are on point and ready for all of our startups and returns to our new ‘normal.’
Speaking of normal: It’s come to my attention that cases are on the ‘uptick’ here in Minnesota. While the ‘uptick’ is normal and probably to be expected, we want to pay attention to our actions with one another. We continue to strongly encourage masking in worship, and will continue to strongly encourage masking this week. We have three baptisms this Sunday, and I believe we need to be sensitive and especially welcoming to families with children under the age of 12 who cannot be vaccinated. So, trying to be creative and welcoming to those of you who dislike masking, let’s do this: If you don’t want to mask, or can’t wear a mask, I would appreciate you social distancing from others in worship. There are seating options to the outer pews of the Sanctuary, the narthex or the balcony.
We are having a coffee/fellowship following worship this Sunday, and masking is not required in the Fellowship Hall. Please remain masked until after you receive your coffee/cookie and are seated at your table.
Office hours remain the same this week and next week. (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 8:30am-Noon.)
The funeral for Carmy Martin is Saturday, July 24, at 11:00am. There will be a visitation at 10:00am and a luncheon will follow the service. Please call the church office if you are planning on attending.
We had a good first meeting for the National Youth Gathering. We will be posting another meeting for sometime in August. Please contact me if your child/children are interested in attending next July 2022. Youth need to be 14-18 years old in July of 2022.
