Weekly Announcements from Pastor Valerie Brown-Greenly, Senior Pastor
Dear Friends,
Vacation Bible School begins on Monday morning. If you haven’t signed your child/children up, you can go to the website and do so, or you can come a little early on Monday morning, August 9, and register then. If you are helping with VBS, please arrive at 8:00am on Monday, so we can organize our tasks for the week. If you want to register your child/children for the week, please begin arriving at 8:30am. If you have signed up, please arrive by 9:00am. If you are in confirmation, remember you can earn 15 service points for the week. A special thank you to our high school students for volunteering their time.
Deb Humrick, Bookkeeper, is retiring from her position with us. Deb has been our bookkeeper since 2014, and while we are sad to see her go, we are excited for her and her next steps into retirement. We will have a cake/fellowship for her on Sunday, August 15, following the 10:00am worship service. If you can’t be with us on Sunday and would like to send a card, please send it to the church office and we will see she gets your greeting.
Office hours will remain the same–Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 8:30am-Noon.
Thank you so much for your donations to the Food Shelf. We feel we are complete at this time. Many of you responded with the few items we were needing to finish the task for the summer and prepare for future food distributions.
Thank you for your ongoing gifting and financial giving. Our budget seems to be on point. We hope to continue this trend so when we return to fuller programming in the fall, we will be on schedule and on budget.
Masking in the building is being strongly encouraged. So far, everyone seems to be alright with going forward this way. The percentage of infections in Anoka County has reached the 4% mark, so we are keeping track of that rate and may re-adjust if it reaches a 5% mark. My preference is to continue with strongly encouraging mask wearing in worship as a protection to all who would like to worship in person.
The situation with COVID is fluid and we need to remain fluid in our adjustments as we head into our fall programing. Masking and some social distancing seem to be one method to keep everything going forward. At this point, adjustments that are made will be in line with the CDC and MDH guidelines. Our Peace community has done an excellent job of adjusting and moving forward as quickly as possible given the facts on the ground. As those change, so will we.
You are encouraged to pick (and help weed) garden items from the We All Need Food and Water giving rows (clearly signed with blue signs). We have beans, cucumbers, basil, sage, and the tomatoes are coming.
I hope you have a good week. I’ll be in VBS this next week enjoying the company of our younger members. I look forward to seeing you soon!
Take care…Be safe…
Pastor Valerie
