Weekly Announcements from Pastor Valerie Brown-Greenly, Senior Pastor
Dear Friends,
There are a lot of activities in the days ahead.
Spirit Time, Confirmation Class and High School Youth Group resume tonight (Wednesday).
The Peaceful Country Boutique is Friday and Saturday. The hours are 4:00pm-8:00pm on Friday, with dinner being served from 5:00pm-7:00pm. The hours on Saturday are from 9:00am-2:00pm, with lunch being served from 11:00am-1:00pm. Don’t miss out on this fun event: crafts, baked goods, lefse and a lot of fun!!
Reformation Worship is this Sunday, October 31, at 10:00am. Norma Malfatti, Assistant to the Bishop of the Minneapolis Area Synod will be our preacher. We will welcome New Members and celebrate Holy Baptism. It should be quite a festive morning. If you would like, it’s a good day to wear red!
Don’t forget Trunk or Treat on Halloween evening from 5:00pm-6:30pm. Please bring a car for the event and help hand out candy to the little ones. We were on pause last Halloween, so we want this to be a great event! We absolutely need you to come and participate. If you can bring a car, please arrive around 4:30pm and we will get you parked. If you are able, bring some candy for your car and then we can re-fill your supply as the event continues.
Speaking of candy, thank you for all the donations of candy. Feel free to drop off candy this week and on Sunday morning. It’s amazing just how much candy we can go through in an hour and a half! In other words, we never have too much candy!
All Saints Sunday is November 7. During worship, we will acknowledge those of our loved ones and members who have entered the Kingdom of God these past two years. The Sanctuary will be decorated with arrangements of white roses given in memory of departed loved ones. The names of those remembered will be printed in the bulletin. If you are interested in purchasing a rose in memory of a loved one, please make out a check in the amount of $5.00 per rose, and include your name(s) and in whose memory the rose is being given. You may use a pew envelope and/or include the information on a sheet of paper. Please place it in the offering plate, mail it to church or drop it off at church. The last day to order is Sunday, October 31.
Office hours this week are on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 8:30am-Noon, and Wednesday evening from 5:00-7:00pm. On Tuesday, November 2, the church office is closed, as we are an election site. I am available to you by text, call or email, should you need pastoral care.
As we continue through our fall worship, activities, and programming, I hope you will keep Peace, it’s staff and members in your prayers. These last months have been challenging for everyone, and as the pandemic makes its way in and out and up and down, the challenges continue. Thank you so much for your ongoing financial gifting and giving to Peace! It will take every one of us to make sure we navigate this time from a strong financial base. As you continue in prayer, consider an additional financial gift to the church.
If you and/or your family are struggling financially, struggling with employment, underemployment or unemployment, please know your church is here for you. Please reach out to me and share your circumstances, and what kind of needs you and your family are facing. We want to be here for you in any way that we can.
Covid 19 update: We will continue to mask throughout the building. You may ask, ‘I don’t have to mask at Menards or Walmart or Costco, so why do I still need to mask in worship?’ The simple answer is, we are masking until such time as our families with children under 12 have had the opportunity to have their children vaccinated. One of my friends reminded me that children under 12 don’t necessarily have to go to Menards or Walmart or Costco, parents can choose not to bring them. As far as worship though, if we aren’t masking for families with children under 12, we are not welcoming those who would want to worship with their children. Once those who desire, have been vaccinated, and the children have had sufficient time from their second dose, we will begin to loosen masking here at church, moving from required to encouraged. One caveat continues to be the level of infection in Anoka County. As those level of infections continues to decrease (which is the hope) then we will continue to lighten precautions.
I would like to hear from those of you who cannot be vaccinated, and those of you who have chosen not to be vaccinated. This will be a confidential contact with me. I am interested in your vision as far as participation with church when the time comes when we aren’t requiring or encouraging masking. Your input and wisdom would be valuable in the conversation as we move forward. Please text or call and we can visit. Thank you for considering reaching out!
I hope you have a blessed week! Take care…Be safe…
