Weekly Announcements from Pastor Valerie Brown-Greenly, Senior Pastor
Dear Friends,
Thanks for being patient over these next couple of weeks. The prediction is for the infection rate to begin falling in our community and in Minnesota over the next while. For Sunday, January 23, worship will remain on livestream and all children and youth programming on Wednesday evening will also remain on pause. We have a number of members and friends who are currently recovering from COVID, and most of them are doing very well.
The remainder of office hours this week are on Thursday, January 20, from 8:30-Noon. The following week, they return to normal on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 8:30-Noon. Remember that Thursday mornings, I take appointments for in person visits and longer conversations. Please reach out to me if you desire to meet in person by text, cell call, email, or Facebook message.
There will be a Pfizer/Moderna Booster Clinic on Friday, January 28, from 10:00am-4:00pm. This clinic is open to all who are 12 and older and who are at least 5 months beyond their second vaccination. Please text, email, or message me on Facebook, for an appointment. Include your name and the names and ages of all who desire a booster; and please mention which booster you desire. I will text you back an appointment time. I will not answer texts that come in after 8:00pm. I will reply promptly to all requests made between 8:00am and 8:00pm. Please remember to bring your vaccination card, proof of insurance if you have it, (there is no issue if you are uninsured) and all minors are required to be accompanied by a parent.
Camp Wapo registration for kids grades 1 thru 12, can be made thru Tuesday, February 15. Camp dates for Ox Root and Wapo youth grades 4 thru 12 is July 24-29. Seed weekend for grades 1 thru 3 is July 29-31.
Gertens Plant Sale fundraiser is kicking off the first week in March if you would like to fundraise for Wapo. Please contact Karleen Fusenig with any questions at sundayschool@peacecoonrapids. org.
Thank you for continuing your donations for the Food Shelf. Items needed this week include canned chicken and tuna, canned fruit and vegetables, kid friendly cereals and snacks.
This year, our Stewardship Campaign is “God’s Grace.” Our scripture reference is from 1 Peter: 4:10: “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in it’s various forms.”
My hope is that 22 of us will step forward with a foundational gift of $1,000, and that others will use the foundational gifts to match with sacrificial gifts. I’m excited about this opportunity to serve, and begin this campaign by gifting the first $1,000. Please contact me with your interest in foundational giving!
The COVID 19 Pandemic is not central to who we have been, who we are today, or who we will be in the future. The course of this pandemic is not the course of the future of our congregation or the amazing things we desire to do in our community. Given that, we, through faith, continue to move forward with projects, programs, and the life we enjoy together in serving others. Please consider being a part of the Foundational 22!
With that, thank you so much for your continued gifting and giving to Peace! I realize that this month we have all had to bring our offerings in, mail them, or donate online. Thank you for being so gracious in making these extra efforts.
The Annual Meeting of Peace Lutheran Church is Sunday, February 6, at 11:30am. This will be a hybrid meeting, meaning you may attend in person or over Zoom. We will get the login details out to you in the next two weeks.
I hope you have a good week! Take care…be safe…
Pastor Valerie
