Weekly Announcements from Pastor Valerie Brown-Greenly, Senior Pastor
Dear Friends,
A few changes for this week. There are no office hours tomorrow, Thursday, March 31. The funeral service for Frenchie Babneau is Thursday morning here at Peace. Visitation at 10:00am and the service at 11:00am.
Lenten worship continues this evening at 6:30pm. We are using the “In View of God’s Mercy” series. Tonight’s theme is ‘mercy in relationships.’ See you in worship!
Don’t miss the April Fool’s Day Pops Concert, Friday, April 1, at 7:00pm, here at Peace. The concert features fun and silly songs for the whole family! This is a wonderful event and opportunity to be back together again! Hope to see you here!
Thank you so much for your ongoing donations to the Food Shelf. We are in crunch time! The community and school use of the Food Shelf has trended upward, and while servicing those in need in our congregation and community, we are also getting ready to pack the Easter Holiday Baskets. We do not need any mac and cheese, and we have enough oatmeal packet cereal and kid friendly cereals. We DO need boxed pastas, spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, canned fruit, canned corn, pancake mix and syrup, canned chicken and tuna. Please include kid friendly snacks, crackers, cookies, pop tarts, etc. Thank you for your generosity!!
The “God’s Grace” stewardship campaign is going well! We have 23 of our 22 Foundational Givers. If you want to make an additional, sacrificial financial gift during the Lenten Season or on Easter Sunday, please make your checks out to Peace Lutheran and put “God’s Grace” in the memo. Thank you to the many of you who have made sacrificial gifts to the campaign. All monies are for the ministry and mission of Peace Lutheran. The campaign comes to a close on Easter Morning.
Peace has a wonderful opportunity to host a Hispanic congregation, Casa de Oracion (House of Prayer). We are in the midst of detailing the relationship.
The preliminary plan is to have Casa use the Fellowship Hall on Sunday afternoons between 2:30pm-5:30pm. This is a blessing and an opportunity for our congregation to partner with Casa. I’m hoping to find a minimum of 12 individuals or 5 to 6 couples who would be willing to be ‘hosts’ on Sunday afternoons while Casa is in our building. With 10 or more volunteers, we will be able to rotate different weekends so no one is doing more than one Sunday every four to six weeks. Please reach out to me immediately with your interest in ‘hosting’ Casa de Oracion. Casa will also have an English speaking host on site. I look forward to sharing the details as plans move forward!
Upcoming Funeral Memorial Services: Bill Dubats’ service is Tuesday, April 19, visitation is at 10:00am and service at 11:00am, followed by a luncheon. Janet Mattson’s service is Saturday, June 4, visitation is at 10:00am and service at 11:00am, followed by a luncheon.
As many of you know, masking is no longer required in the building or for worship or any activities or events within the church. Each individual is free to mask or go without a mask according to your wishes or health status. Peace Lutheran staff is no longer required to mask in the building. Each staff member can make masking decisions according to what is best for their individual circumstances. Pastoral staff will no longer mask in worship, with the exception of serving communion and after worship, when greeting and conversing with others.
The hope is that the numbers continue to trend downward and become negligible in the future. We will stay informed on any trend change and will adjust our policies accordingly.
I hope you have a good week…Take care…Be safe…
Pastor Valerie
