Dear Friends,
It feels like forever since we’ve shared an email. I hope you are doing well. With the change in season, everyone is getting busier with outside tasks, planned trips, and looking forward to summer months.
As usual, things continue to change in our personal lives and in our life together here at Peace Lutheran. Debbie Clipson, our long time Office Manager, will be retiring on June 30. We will have a cake and coffee reception in her honor on Sunday, July 17, following the 10:00am worship service. We have hired a new person as our Office Manager, and we will introduce her once she has had an opportunity to resign from her current employment. We wish Debbie the best in her new ventures, and thank her for her more than 18 years of service to Peace Lutheran. If you cannot be present on Sunday, July 17, please send cards and well wishes to the Church Office.
If you are interested in hosting our partner congregation, Casa de Oracion, please let me know. I have received enough volunteers for us to move forward. We believe their first worship will be on Sunday, July 24, from 2:30-5:30pm. I will send out a calendar for those of you who have volunteered sometime in the second week of June so we can do sign ups. I am delaying until then, so others of you who are interested have an opportunity to contact me. Hosting Casa is simple. Come to Peace on the Sunday afternoon before 2:30pm and be a welcoming presence for our guests during their time of worship. This is such an exciting opportunity for our congregation, and I look forward to the many ways we will connect with Casa. Please text, call, or email me if you are interested in being on the team. For those of you on the team, we will review our hosting responsibilities sometime in June, so everyone is on the same page.
In other news, many of you know I have an opportunity to travel to Norway at the end of the month! I am looking forward to this trip of a lifetime! I have arranged coverage for the time I am gone. If you have an emergency, please call the Church Office, talk to Debbie and she will arrange one of the on- call pastors to assist you. As always, you are welcome to call or text me, even in Norway. In that situation, try to attend to the 8-hour time difference. In other words, I will be living my day 8 hours ahead of yours. If you call when I’m asleep, please give me a couple of minutes to wake up and welcome your conversation. I covet your prayers for a safe journey and return to you.
I think we are going to have a wonderful season here at Peace.
The gardens are being prepared for our gardeners, and there has been an arrangement for goats to join us out on the property to do their ‘eating’ magic. Special thanks to Dawn Pape and the Garden Board for all their continued efforts and all the work it takes not only to prepare for the season, but also to care for our guests throughout the growing season! Please take a walk out on the property from time to time!
The Spring Craft Show is this coming Saturday, May 14, from 10:00am-2:00pm. Please stop in at Peace and enjoy the crafts! With that, the Gerten’s Plant Sale pick up is also on Saturday, May 14, 1:00-3:00pm. Please pick up plants on the grass area next to the playground.
Be sure to register for Vacation Bible School!! VBS-Food Truck Party, August 1-5, 9:00am-Noon for age 3 through 5thgrade. Cost: $25 per child or $60 per family.
This year’s 13th Annual 5K Walk for Mental Wellness will be on Saturday, June 4, at Bunker Hills Regional Park, Pavilion #3, starting at 10:00am. There will be a number of exhibitors with mental health information, then a short program at 10:30am with the walk starting off at 11:00am. The Health and Wellness Team has donated the Registration Fee so all you need to do is come and walk.
There are T-shirts for the Walkers. In order to guarantee you receive the correct size T-shirt I will need to know your size by Sunday, May 15th.
There will be an information table in the Fellowship Hall after worship services on Sundays, May 15 and May 22, where you can register, pick up maps to the park, and parking vouchers. For questions, concerns or suggestions please contact Mary Berg – e-mail: [email protected] or phone: 763-755-2291
There are sign-ups for Communion Servers on the bulletin board. Please sign up for the Sunday you would like to serve.
Office hours next week are normal, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 8:30am-Noon, and Thursday morning by appointment.
