A Message From Pastor Val
Dear Friends,
Many of you know that I’m leaving for Egypt this week. My weekly email will be paused until Wednesday, March 8. Julie Barthels, our Office Manager, will send an ‘announcement’ email so that you don’t miss any events or activities in the days ahead.
Ash Wednesday is February 22; the service at 6:30pm. Ash Wednesday marks our entry into the Lenten season, and I hope you will make worship on the Wednesday evenings of Lent a priority for your spiritual discipline. We are using the series, Promised Treasures. I think you will find it a meaningful experience. For our confirmation students, Wednesday evening worship is a good time to catch up on sermon notes, and to be in worship with your family. Lent is an important season of the church year, as we prepare to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord on Easter.
I hope you received my letter and Lenten calendar. I also purchased some devotional books for the season, and those can be picked up during the week or on Sunday mornings.
As Lent begins next week, remember the “Building for the Future” Easter emphasis.
This is an invitation to sacrificial giving for the 40 days of Lent leading up to Easter. If you are able to make additional, sacrificial gifts, please use this contemplative time to pray about your financial gifting.

Please continue to donate to the food shelf. Our Easter Holiday Basket ministry is already prepping. We appreciate your donations to the food shelf, as it is a resource for our local community. Please continue with cake mixes and frosting, pastas, canned tuna and chicken, and kid friendly snacks. Your generosity makes a difference for many individuals and families in our community.
Pastor Galen Hora is available for emergencies during my travel. Please contact Julie should an emergency arise.
So, keeping the calendar in mind; the Men of Peace will be hosting a pancake breakfast on Sunday, March 5. I know they would appreciate help from our middle school and high school youth. Come in around 8 am, and help set up and serve.
I have never been to Egypt, so I’m sure Bruce and I will have many adventures. Please pray for safe travel and return.
I hope you have a good week!! Take care. Be safe.
Pastor Valerie
