A Message from Pastor Val
Dear Friends,
This is Holy Week. I hope you have made plans to join us for Maundy Thursday worship with communion this Thursday at 6:30 pm; and Good Friday worship at 6:30 pm. Our Easter Celebration will be at 8:30 am and 10 am, with cinnamon rolls, coffee and juice being served before the 8:30 am worship and between the two worship services. We will be livestreaming all of our services for those who cannot attend in person, and we hope you will be able to join us for all three meaningful worship services as we journey through Holy Week and Celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord on Easter morning.
For those of you who purchased flowers for Easter, we ask that you pick them up following the 10 am service on Easter. The Church Office will be closed on Easter Monday, and you will be able to pick up flowers Tuesday morning.
You may or may not be aware that Kerri Tomandl, our Preschool Director has resigned her position at Peace Lutheran. The Preschool Advisory Board is currently looking for an individual to replace her. If you or someone you know is interested in the position, please contact Kerri in the Preschool Office and she will give you the necessary information for the application.
We will have a reception for Kerri Tomandl on Sunday, May 7th, along with a reception for Jessie Hodgson, who is leaving us for a year for internship. Along with these receptions, we are hosting a silent auction. Please let me know if you can donate a basket or an item for the silent auction.
Hosting refreshments continues to be an issue. If you or a group you belong to would like to host Sunday coffee, please call the Church Office and sign up to do so. As you know, if no one signs up to host, and our paid host is not available that morning, we won’t be able to have coffee fellowship. Hosting coffee fellowship is not a function of my staff, but rather a function of our congregation. I look forward to sign ups so that we can continue to have fellowship time this Spring and throughout the Summer Sundays.
Thank you so much for making the Easter Holiday Basket Ministry a success! We were able to reach out to families in our congregation, friends of our congregation, and to school families. With that, you are doing an amazing job at re-stocking the food shelf! We have noticed an uptick in individuals and families who are accessing this resource.
You may have noticed that I didn’t send an email last week. As you know, we had the memorial service for our former staff member and friend, Debra Humrick. Deb’s husband, Mike, the staff, and Deb’s friends thank you for your prayers and support during this difficult time. Deb was our bookkeeper for over seven years, and a wonderful and caring friend to our congregation.
As you journey through these last days of the Lenten Season, I hope that you have had the opportunity to reflect and spiritually prepare for Easter. In this season, I hope we can all remember how very blessed we are! May you journey well through these days.
Take Care… Be safe…
Pastor Valerie
