Weekly Announcements from Pastor Valerie Brown-Greenly, Senior Pastor
Dear Friends,
I hope your week is going well. Tomorrow morning (Thursday) I’ll have your Lenten kits available. I’ll be here between 8:30am-Noon, and would love to greet you and give you your kit. (One per household). On this coming Saturday, please stop by the church between 10:00am-Noon to receive kits. If you are coming on Saturday, please go to the flagpole side of the church building and use the doors that enter near the Nursery. There is a vaccination clinic, so we moved our pick-ups to the other side just for that morning.
On Ash Wednesday, February 17, I will be here from 7:30am-Noon and again from 1:00pm-5:00pm, to offer individual forgiveness and absolution, and the imposition of ashes. During that time, you will also be able to collect a Lenten kit.
The 125 Lenten kits contain a Lenten calendar, a giving box, a Lenten devotional, and a small ‘ashes to go’ for Ash Wednesday worship, along with the bulletin for the evening. I hope to see you as we begin this Holy season. May God Bless you in every spiritual preparation as you enter the Lenten season.
By now, all confirmation parents should have received an email of our intention to resume in-person confirmation classes. These classes resume on Wednesday, March 3, and the class length will be from 6:00pm-7:00pm. Confirmation students will be entering through the Sunday School Entrance/Preschool Entrance on the other side of the building from where they had normally been entering. Drop offs and pick-ups will be at that door. Please refer to Pastor Tim’s email for the schedule and any questions you have as we resume classes.
Office hours are back to ‘normal’ for next week. Please drop off Food Shelf donations and financial gifting on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings from 8:30am-Noon. I certainly appreciate your flexibility given the vaccination clinics. I will update you on schedules each week, as there will continue to be first and second clinics through this month and into the first week of March.
I hope to have some good news soon on whether or not we will be having a 65 and older vaccination clinic. It’s looking like this may very well happen. I will let you know as soon as I know. It’s been amazing to work with Genoa Healthcare, Dr. Julie Jackman and her team, as we have been serving Mental Health Care Workers of Anoka County and their clients. Rejoice with me in all the ways Peace Lutheran is serving in the community and caring for the neighbor!
The Annual Meeting is Sunday, February 14, at 11:00am. If you haven’t emailed the office of your intention to attend, you need to do that right away. We are gathering your email addresses and will send a zoom link to those of you who wish to attend. Send your intentions to [email protected] In the email, include your name(s) and the email address you want the link sent to. Your ‘shepherd’ for the meeting will begin admitting participants around 10:45am on Sunday. Please mute yourself when you enter the room. Remember, this is an Annual Meeting on Zoom, it is not an in-person meeting. Call or text me if you have other questions and we will get you set up for the day. Thanks for all of your help. Thanks to those of you who helped me with the phone list for those who do not have tech. They are being contacted and set up with a ‘shepherd’ who will be on a live phone call with them during the meeting. We want to include every member who desires to attend the meeting either through Zoom or a live call.
I hope you have a good week! I look forward to seeing you in the days to come as you come to pick up your Lenten kits and as you come on Ash Wednesday for the imposition of ashes. God Bless You…Take care…Be safe
Pastor Valerie
