Weekly Announcements from Pastor Valerie Brown-Greenly, Senior Pastor
Dear Friends,
As most of you know, I’ve been in Kansas for the week visiting with Dad. It has been unsettling and strange to watch the news in Kansas, while so much is happening in Minnesota. Like you, I have been in prayer for all the families touched by grief and sadness this week as we look in on the Chauvin trial and as we try to wrap our hearts and minds around this most recent tragedy. Please join me in praying for all involved: the parents who mourn the death of their son, his children who will grow up without their father, and for the officer and all law enforcement during these difficult times. Prayers are important as facts become available. Pray for peace, justice and mercy, and that God would grant grace to all involved. These are very difficult times for all of us, and there are no simple answers to the very complex problems that shadow our lives.
Even as I write this to you, I also think of the work and sacrifice all of us have made over these last months of COVID. As more are vaccinated, our situation will continue to improve. We will do the partial re-opening on Sunday, April 25. We will launch the sign-up-genius on Tuesday, April 20, with limited numbers which will continue to increase over time. Next Wednesday’s email will have some more detail on re-opening and also some directions and guidelines for all of us as we begin to return to our worship center.
One reminder, next week the office hours will be limited to Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 8:30am-Noon, as there are vaccination clinics on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
I have begun scheduling funeral services for our members who haven’t had the opportunity to have a church, life-celebration for their loved one. Please contact me and we will get a service scheduled. As I work with your family, we can move forward. There will still be some restrictions for the safety of all and masking will be required. Please be in prayer for those who mourn the death of their loved ones. It has been a long season for everyone and an even longer season for those who are mourning.
One of the very positive things going on around us right now is the opportunity for members and community friends to plant a garden in the Peace Community Garden (formerly the Loaves and Fishes garden area). Please go online and register for a garden space. Please reach out to Dawn Pape or others on the Garden Team and we will get you set up. They have had a great couple of work days in the garden and with the gardeners! Don’t miss out!!
I look forward to seeing you. I’ll be in the office and look forward to being back in the pulpit on Sunday, April 25. Have a great week! See you soon!!
