Church Staff

I have served as an ELCA Pastor since 1989. During those years I have served in a variety of ministry settings. I enjoy working closely with Preschool chapel, children’s ministry, Holy Communion instruction, and Vacation Bible School. I am happily married to my husband, Bruce, and have one daughter, Emily Brown. I also have three step children: Bethany, Anthony, and Christine Greenly. I enjoy fishing, watching NFL football, movies, and reading.

 

I am an East Coast girl who somehow made her way to the Midwest. Currently I am a Masters of Divinity student at Luther Seminary. Here at Peace Lutheran Church, I plan and facilitate the Middle School Confirmation program, the Middle and High School Youth Group, and assist Pastor Valerie with worship services. In my spare time, I love to crochet and try out new recipes.

I am grateful for the ways in which the congregation of Peace Lutheran Church has helped shaped my seminary journey and my pastoral formation. 

I am originally from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan as well as my husband. We moved to Minnesota in 1984, eventually established a home in Coon Rapids and raised our 4 sons here. We still have our roots in the U.P. with family there, and we own a cabin in my husband’s hometown of Bergland, MI. We spend as much time as possible at our cabin, it’s my happy place! I also enjoy time with my family (especially my sons and one daughter-in-law) and friends, traveling, and trying new things.

When I was 5 years old, I remember falling asleep in the pew while my mom rehearsed with the choir. I believe my path to music ministry started then. My favorite season of the year is Lent and my favorite service is Good Friday or as the choir says – I like the dark stuff. I’m a graduate of Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, I’ve been at Peace since 2004 directing the Ringers of Peace, Joyful Ringers, Infusion and Heritage Singers. My other passions include my husband, Dave and our dog, Pappy.
